Atheist Fags™ started as a collaboration of "New Atheists" from around the world. We are a diverse mix of 2 LGBTQ contributors and 2 straight allies.

We are committed to raising awareness of the injustices the LGBTQ community still faces.

As far as we are concerned, theism is a poison to free society and should be exposed for the evil that it is. Most evil in the world has resulted from theistic religion, particularly Christianity and Islam.

We believe in science, the scientific method, rationality and reason. We believe in a government free from religious ideals and free from catering to the rich. We are also the 99%. We love our readers and welcome feedback from everyone if you agree or disagree. All that we ask is that you keep it classy.

Michigan bans partner health coverage

Michigan governor Rick Snyder signed into law yesterday a bill ending health care coverage for domestic partners of government workers. Republican officials introduced and have been pushing the legislation - surprise! 

“Governor Snyder’s support for this bill is appalling,” Emily Dievendorf, director of policy for Equality Michigan, said in a statement. “Today, the governor told unmarried public employees that they can no longer care for their partners or children. He has put hardworking gay and lesbian couples and their children into harm’s way by eliminating important health care coverage. He has spent the last two years talking about creating a welcoming state with a attractive business climate, and this bill flies in the face of those goals.”

There’s honestly no excuse for this. Why take away rights? Why intentionally discriminate? 

It’s Michigan. They usually lead the fight to be as backward as possible. Detroit is the most liberal city (by voting record) in the US but if you leave Detroit, the rest of the state is Tea Party Central.
